Description

This full-time course at BNU comprises three core papers that cover inter alia the theoretical, historical, empirical and philosophical underpinnings of the field of comparative and international education, the interdisciplinary nature and impact of the research in comparative education, and the political nature of governance and policy choices.

In addition to three pathway-specific core papers, two core papers in research methods develop students’ understanding in key concepts and principles of educational research design and methodology, using both quantitative and qualitative methods and data.

Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens holding a foreign passport and under 50 years old (Note for Chinese Government Scholarships applicants: master’s degree applicants should be under 35 years old; doctorate degree applicants should be under 40 years old).

  • The University requirement for admission to any master’s degree program is the demonstration of the completion of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or from a recognized foreign institution.
  • Students with a GPA of 2.5 or above as reflected on the official transcript of the institution awarding their degree are considered to have demonstrated the requisite knowledge and skills to handle graduate-level work and will be admitted without further requirements.
  • * Applicants who have earned a bachelor’s degree in a field unrelated to the graduate degree for which they are considering application are advised to speak with an admissions counselor first to discuss the background and preparation needed to be successful in the desired program.
  • In addition to an official transcript, international applicants must provide a foreign credential evaluation indicating the earning of the equivalent of a regionally accredited bachelor’s degree.
  • Applicants whose primary language is not English must demonstrate proficiency in written and spoken English by submitting official results from the iBT (Internet-based test) versions of either the Test of English as a Foreign Language or International English Language Testing System (IELTS link) to the Registrar. At a minimum, TOEFL scores should be 79 on the Internet-based test (iBT). At a minimum, the IELTS score should be 6.5.

The dormitories for international students at the main campus are located within the walls of the university. The only visa for studying in China is the China Student visa. So if you have secured admission into a Chinese University or college to pursue Degree Programs or even learn the Chinese Language for a semester / Year / or a short term like the summer. The China Student Visa is categorized into 2 major main types, known as X1 and X2. Usually, most international students get confused here but here is the difference. The X1 student visa is issued to students whose study with Universities irrespective of their course and also covering a duration longer than 6 months (up to 360 days). International students will get the X2 student visa if their intended time of stay is less than 6 months (<180 days). X1 visa holders have multiple entries which mean they can enter China and legally leave and re-enter any time of the duration of the Visa. Students who decide to travel in Asia, go home and also visit friends may do so without worrying about re-applying.
