Description

Hainan Medical University enrolls international undergraduates on MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery) program, with English as the medium of teaching. The study duration of MBBS program is 6 years (including 1-year internship). Graduates who reach the qualification of graduation will be awarded “Diploma Certification” and graduates who reach the qualification of the Degree Rule will be awarded the Bachelor Degree of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery, MBBS.

The internship can be finished in Chinese hospitals or in hospitals of your own country. The program will be conducted on six months semester basis. Therefore the total academic semesters will be 10 to 11 including internship. The program will not only benefit the development of the higher medical education but also improve the cultural exchange and co-operation among the medical universities around the globe. Hainan Medical University provides South Asian teachers especially from Pakistan, India, and Nepal with MBBS and BDS program so as to provide high-quality education, advanced teaching equipment, co-operative administration and innovative teaching methodology.

Candidates should be non-Chinese citizens and hold the foreign valid ordinary passport.

Medical Undergraduate Diploma: Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates should pass new HSK Level 2 or above for the majors of Clinical Medicine, Dental Medicine, Pharmacy, and Nursing. For a clinical internship, students should pass new HSK Level 4. New HSK Level 4 is essential for admission to Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is required that applicant for the Chinese language should be capable with the basic English language level.

About the University Summary

The current college was created in 1993 with the approval of the central government. In 1951, two private medical colleges were merged to form the Hainan Specialized Medical School. These two colleges were Haiqiang Medical Vocational School (created in 1947) and the Medical College of Hainan University (established in 1948).

In 1993, the college became the Hainan Medical College to reflect its specialization in medicine. In 1994, Hainan Medical College was accredited to offer bachelor’s degrees and in 1996 was accredited for undergraduate education by the Ministry of Education.

The University now offers 27 specialties in three different medical disciplines to undergraduates, including medicine, science and management and 21 specialties for a vocational program. The university hosts 15 schools and departments，e.g. School of Clinical Medicine, School of Vocational Education and School of International Education etc. There are 6 provincial key disciplines, 4 provincial key laboratories, 15 provincial excellent courses, and 3 provincial key courses. There are 80 teaching and internship bases and 4 affiliated hospitals, one of which is directly under the HMU. To date, HMU has enrolled over 12,000 Chinese students and more than 100 international students.
