Description

The Master’s in Architecture at Chongqing University (CQU) is a two year program for international students taught in English. The program aims to help students understand history and theory of architecture, urban design theory and methodology, building technology, and landscape. It creates an opportunity for the students with background in architecture, urban planning and landscape architecture to pursue advanced study, expand their knowledge range and improve their synthetic capability.

Provides comprehensive professional knowledge in urban design. Students will learn project analysis, presentation and design ability in order to promote creative thinking and capability.

Prospective students should hold a non-Chinese passport, be in good health and under the age of 45.
Prospective students must hold a recognized bachelor’s degree or above, or equivalent
Minimum requirement is 550 or above for TOEFL, 75 for Internet-based TOEFL (IBT), or 6.0 or above for IELTS, or other certificate of English proficiency from an approved authority. Native English speakers are exempt from this requirement; other candidates whose university courses are taught in English will be considered case by case.

Details

Chongqing University has four campuses known as Campus A, B, C and D. The arrangement of accommodation is based on the location of the student’s host college. Generally, all undergraduate students live in Campus D, except those who study at the School of Architecture and the Film Academy, which are based in Campus A. Please refer to the following for more details:

→All undergraduate students (except those of the Film Academy and the School of Architecture), and all students from the Schools of Foreign Languages,Journalism,Software Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics and Physics will be accommodated in Campus D.

→Students from other colleges will be accommodated in the Xuelin Hotel or the Songlinpo International Apartment in Campus A.

There are a limited number of on-campus dormitory rooms available.

Students can also find off-campus accommodation when arrive at CQU.

About the University Summary

Founded in 1929, Chongqing University (CQU) is a national key comprehensive university under the direct leadership of Chinese Ministry of Education (MoE).

Located in Chongqing Municipality, an economic and industrial center in southwestern China and on the upper reach of Yangtze River, CQU has 4 campuses, covering a total area of 350 hectares, making a wonderful place for learning and research with beautiful environment and well-equipped facilities. Currently CQU consists of six faculties in science, social sciences, humanities, engineering, built environment, information technology, offering 96 undergraduate programs, 115 master’s programs, 42 doctoral programs, 19 professional degree programs. Apart from regular degree programs, CQU also offers 17 master and doctoral programs fully delivered in English, including 4 national English-taught brand courses approved by MoE. At present, the university hosts 47,000 students, including 25,000 undergraduates, 19,000 graduates, and over 1,800 international students. The university has a total of 5,300 faculty and staff members, among whom over 2000 are professors or associate professors.

Chongqing University is the host institution for Chinese Government Scholarship international students, also one of the first cohort of demonstration universities for quality education of international students in China, which has passed the quality accreditation of international student education in China organized by MoE.
