With China’s rapid economic growth and growing presence on the world stage, the knowledge of Chinese law has become an essential resource for international students and legal professionals engaged with China. Beijing Normal University Law School has established the LL.M.Program in Chinese Law to address the needs of an international community seeking a comprehensive and systematic understanding of Chinese law from a first-rate legal institution.

This program provides an intensive instruction in Chinese law. Leading faculty members will offer Chinese law courses specially designed for international students. Teaching will comprise of both lectures and small-group seminars. Additionally, Beijing Normal University regularly attracts top scholars and practitioners in Chinese law and students will have first-hand access to such distinguished presenters. There are also optional subjects in non-law areas such as politics, economy and society to facilitate students’ understanding of China’s culture.

A recognized bachelor’s degree;
All applicants who are not native English speakers or who did not have a postsecondary education entirely conducted in English language must take the TOEFL or IELTS examination. The Program requires a minimum score of 80 in TOEFL IBT, or 6.0 in IELTS.
There is no requirement of Chinese proficiency for the applicants. After the students are admitted, they are expected to choose the Chinese language course taught by the College of Chinese Language & Culture, Beijing Normal University. Chinese language course is not compulsory, but if you choose it, it will be included in the whole credits of the whole program, and you need pay for it.

There are a total of 6 international student dorms in BNU. All the rooms in Beijing Normal University are equipped with single bed, bedding, desk, bookshelf, chair, lamp, telephone,refrigerator,safe box, air conditioner, electric kettle, wardrobe. Hot water is provide the whole day and the room is cleaned everyday.

About the University Summary

Beijing Normal University is an offspring of the Education Department of Imperial University of Peking established in 1902, BNU is mandated and tasked to provide top level Teacher training in Higher Education. After the development for over a century, BNU has become a comprehensive and research-intensive university with its main characteristics of basic disciplines in sciences and humanities, teacher education and educational science.
According to 2020 QS World University Rankings, BNU is ranked the 277th among the world universities, and the 10th among Chinese mainland universities.
