About University of Electronic Science and Technology of China

Located in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan- the Land of Abundance, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) is the most famous university on information technology under the direction of the National Ministry of Education. From 2001 on, UESTC has been selected as one of 39 universities heading for world-famous research-oriented universities.

UESTC was founded in 1956. Sixty years’ efforts and cultivations have witnessed the University’s process from sole dependence on electronic information engineering to all-around programs in electronic disciplines, and the University now turns out to be a key multidisciplinary university with electronic information science and technology as its nucleus, engineering as its major field, and incorporates science, management and liberal arts.

UESTC occupies a total area of 635 acres, including three campuses: Qingshuihe Shahe, Jiulidi. UESTC library boasts of a storage of 2.57 million books and digital recourses around 220TB. Besides, UESTC has kinds of sports facilities like outdoor playground, indoor gym, tennis court, swimming pool and so on.

UESTC has more than 3,800 faculty members. Among them over 2200 are full-time teachers, more than 550 are professors. UESTC has a current enrollment of 34,390 students, including 13,390 doctors and masters. There are over 1000 international students on campus currently, 666 of which are masters and doctors.

UESTC keeps close link with more than 200 universities, scientific research institutions and enterprises from over 67 countries and regions all over the world. Since 2010, UESTC has recruited approximately 2,200 international students from more than 100 countries, including undergraduate, master, doctoral, exchange and visiting students. The university organizes international academic conferences more than ten times annually. Besides, it often sends a large number of teachers abroad for further study, cooperation research and international conferences. Why Us

The University of Electronic Science and Technology of China is located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. It was formerly known as the Chengdu Telecommunication Engineering College. It was deployed by Premier Zhou Enlai in 1956. The South China Institute of Technology (now South China University of Technology) has merged and established related telecommunications engineering related majors.

  The school was listed as a national key higher education institution by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in 1960. It was identified as one of the seven national defense industrial colleges by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in 1960. In 2000, it was transferred from the former director of the Ministry of Information Industry to the director of the Ministry of Education.
